2008 Announcement

This year is coming to an end and it is time to make plans for 2008. For most of us, those plans are simple. Exercise more, eat less junk food, spend more time with family and friends are on the top of many lists. For others, 2008 will bring a more significant change. Kirsten Mason is among them. She has plans to leave Bowen Island and move to Kamloops in March 2008. Our best wishes will accompany her even though she will be missed by students, parents and staff of BIDA.

Kirsten is the owner of the Bowen Island Dance Academy as well as the tap, jazz and hip hop instructor. She will retain ownership and manage the business from Kamloops, but her place as instructor will be filled by another gifted dance teacher. Angela Parkin has taken on the responsibility of BIDA's day-to-day operation. She has filled in for Kirsten in the past and is very capable and confident that the transition will be very smooth and that the high quality of programming and instruction will be maintained. Kirsten will come to Bowen twice a month to visit, take care of business and organize the costumes for Competition and the June Showcase.

This has not been an easy decision for Kirsten. She founded the Bowen Island Dance Academy in 2004 and has been working very hard to make the business successful and viable. She tirelessly organized fundraisers, dance performances and participated in community events and has been an inspiration for young dancers.

Winter Show DVD's and Still Photos

DVD's are available for purchase at the studio for the Winter Show performance at Kay Meek. They cost $36 and will have the full show footage as well as backstage footage. We need all orders in NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 6th and you must order through the studio. You can email or phone in your order.

STILL PHOTOS: GT FOTO FX was also at the theatre taking still photos. You can fill out the form on their website or call them to get an access number to view the photos online. Their contact is: www.gtfotofx.com or phone: 604-433-5034. All photos have to be ordered through GT Foto FX.

At Bowen Island Dance Academy we offer a variety of dance classes for all ages and levels. We offer classes in tap, jazz, Recreational & RAD ballet, hip-hop, musical theater, preschool programs and private lessons. We have many programs to fit your child's ability ranging from recreational classes to competitive "Dance Team" classes. Dance team students participate in multiple dance classes and attend festivals throughout the session. At BIDA, we offer classes to students as young as two and a half years to adult classes. Through movement to music, students will gain flexibility, core strength, coordination, posture, confidence and grace while also gaining a sense of rhythm and beat. Highly qualified instructors who encourage students through positive reinforcement teach all the classes at BIDA. Our instructors ensure the classes are fun while encouraging students to develop their own sense of creativity.
